Lincoln Experience Center Teams Up with Waste Not OC to Deliver Meals to Orange County Communities

As the fight against COVID-19 continues, Lincoln and its team of dealers and employees are continuing to find ways to serve local communities. Lincoln Personal Drivers have done several food and essential supply drops to those in need in Southeast Michigan communities, and most recently, the team at the Lincoln Experience Center in Newport Beach, California stepped up to help the Orange County community.

With the help of Waste Not OC, a public-private coalition formed with the goal of eliminating hunger and reducing food waste by facilitating the donation of surplus food to local pantries, staff at the Newport Beach LEC agreed to provide transportation for a meal drop-off using Lincoln Aviators.

Sonal Raga and Wesley Kaplan, who work at the LEC, completed the first drop-off – taking 100 prepared meals provided by Taquiero Taco Patio to UCI Medical Center in Orange County. Many steps were taken to ensure that everyone involved in the project  was safe and following social distancing guidelines – including packaging the meals in take-out containers and bags and wrapping the cargo area of the Aviator in a disposable plastic sheet.

“This was a very positive and professional experience for me, and with the help of Waste Not OC, I was able to complete it with no problems,” said Raga. “I took an online training and health and safety quiz prior to the drop-off, so I was able to feel confident and abide by all social distancing regulations.”

Raga said hospital staff greeted her at the entrance and unloaded all meals effortlessly.

“Our LEC team did an excellent job with vehicle preparation and team support,” said Raga. “I am very proud to be a part of our efforts to help our local communities during these changing times.”
