PRETORIA, South Africa – Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa recently donated a Ford Ranger to the MEDICOS Special School in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria. In addition to the donation of the Ford Ranger, they also gave the students and teachers a Christmas party to close off the year. The school is a day-care centre for children with special needs. Most of the children come from surrounding areas of Soshanguve, Mabopane and Garankuwa and many who attend the school come from low income homes where their parents and guardians cannot afford the school fees.

MELBOURNE, Australia — Ford Geelong electrical apprentices, Lucas Diaz and Nicholas Skinner entered the Regional WorldSkills Mechatronics competition at the local Gordon TAFE in November. Lucas was the overall winner of the competition which will enable him to compete at the National level in Perth, in late 2014. Nicholas also performed well but is unable to go further in the competition due to age limitations. WorldSkills is a long running, prestigious competition which showcases trainees, apprentices and students in over 50 different skill and trade areas.
