BEIJING/CHONGQING, China – Ford Mondeo-Zhisheng has capped off a stellar year with more than 30 awards given by Chinese media during 2011.
The awards, including an Annual Technical Innovation High-Class Cars award, an Annual Power Technology Award and a Web users' Favorite Luxury Car award, were given by national and regional newspapers, auto magazines and websites.
As the first vehicle in the Asia Pacific and Africa region equipped with Ford's new 2.0L EcoBoost GTDi engine and PowerShift dual clutch transmission, Mondeo-Zhisheng also took the Prestigious Best-Selling Mid-Sized Car award given by Chongqing Times as one of the 2011 China Car Awards at the Chongqing Auto Show in September.
"The turbocharged, direct fuel injected EcoBoost engine joining hands with PowerShift transmission, not to mention its spacious interior, Mondeo-Zhisheng's winning is a matter of course," the newspaper said.
Apart from appreciating the powertrain system as a real advantage for Mondeo-Zhisheng when it comes to winning car awards, the Best New Engine Technology from Shenzhen Press Group and the Annual Power Technology Award from Shanghai-based Evening News were additional honours for Ford's patented engine – an auspicious sign for the company as it plans to introduce 20 new engines and transmissions in China by 2015.
Another highlight in Mondeo-Zhisheng's large trophy room this year was The Best Power Car won by the 2.0T model. The accolade, given by Autoword in its "2011 Best Buy and Recommended Models" and "2011 Top Ten Cars" selections, again demonstrated the mid-sized car's excellent capability and handling.
"Mondeo has always been a highly popular Ford vehicle since it was first introduced in 1993 due to its exceptional handling and drivability," said Fengyuan Liu from Chengdu Commercial Daily. "The 2011 Mondeo-Zhisheng is a perfect combination of power and fuel economy, thanks to the newly equipped 2.0L EcoBoost engine and PowerShift dual clutch transmission."
