CHONGQING, China – Each month, the Changan Ford team organizes visits to a local orphanage called Chongqing Love Manor, an orphanage that has roughly 500 children that range from infants to teenagers; over 50 percent of the children have special needs. These visits are made by CAF’s ISE volunteer group – Chongqing Cares4Kids - which works with helping the special needs children in the Chongqing area.
On April 27, CAF volunteers spent a day with the orphans of Chongqing Love Manor. Over 70 volunteers, which included CAF ISEs and local staff, 20 Ford families, local Chinese, and expat volunteers around Chongqing, came together to spend the afternoon at the orphanage, which was filled with fun and games, such as badminton, table tennis, soccer and other outdoor games as well as arts and crafts. Some of the little girls even had their nails painted by the volunteers. Everyone, regardless of age, culture or gender, join in on the action. Bright smiles and warm hugs was the theme of the day.
“Our goal is to build a long term relationship with these children and help them better integrate into society and give back to the community,” said Praveen Cherian, program director, CAF C-car. “‘Together we are strong, together we will win’ is the motto of CAF. We carry this same principle into the Chongqing Cares4kids volunteer group to leverage the diversity, experience and resources of the all the volunteers.”
All in all, it was an incredible afternoon of sharing fun and laughter, creating lasting memories and building new friendships.
