DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Sales of Ford and Lincoln vehicles are on the upswing in the United Arab Emirates, breaking a record that stood for more than three years.
After strong sales growth in 2011, Al Tayer Motors sold 1,218 vehicles in January, topping its previous high mark, set in April 2008, by 50.
While sales in the UAE declined somewhat after 2008, they’ve been on the upswing lately says Larry Prein, managing director, Ford Middle East. “UAE is coming off a great performance in 2011, with sales exceeding 9,000 vehicles. The increase in sales can be attributed to a number of factors, including the strong focus Al Tayer Motors places on customer service.”
The market itself is stronger – property prices have stabilized, and the tourism, trading and natural resource sectors are all doing well, providing a favorable economic climate to operate in.
With a portfolio of exciting new products, Ford is well positioned to take advantage of the improving market and maintain its sales momentum. “We have some great products available, and that combined with excellent customer service by Al Tayer is resulting in an increasingly favorable opinion of Ford,” says Prein. “The Edge and Explorer have resonated particularly well with our customers in the UAE.”
Prein says he’s also pleased by the dealership’s investment in new facilities. In the last couple of years, Al Tayer Motors has opened new dealerships in the Emirates of Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman, with new parts and service facilities in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. The dealership also broke ground in January in the Emirate of Sharjah on what will be its largest facility.
Since it began carrying Ford and Lincoln vehicles in 2001, Al Tayer Motors has grown to become the 10th largest Ford dealer in the world and the largest Ford Mustang dealer outside North America. Ford Middle East recently marked the 10th anniversary with the Al Tayer Ford team, presenting them with a commemorative plaque at a celebratory dinner.
