 Trendy Fiesta sashays into Taiwan

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

TAIPEI, Taiwan – Ford has strengthened its product pipeline with the introduction of the all-new Fiesta in Taiwan. This long-awaited addition joins other members of the "Kinetic Design" family, with the Ford Mondeo and Ford Focus already available in the market.

After several pre-launch activities had built high anticipation for Ford's global small car, Ford Lio Ho (FLH) announced the arrival of the five-door hatchback European Fiesta with both 1.4-litre and 1.6-litre engines to 130 journalists in Taiwan prior to the on-sale date late September.

To highlight the trendy elements and versatility of the car, several dancers wearing business attire went up on the stage and performed a 'quick clothes changing' dance. While the dancers changed from suits and skirts to evening gowns and sexy dresses, five new Fiestas with five different colours were slowly unveiled. The bold and dynamic lines of the Kinetic design Fiesta drew admiration from the media.

“The all-new Fiesta is the first proof point of our ability to deliver on our strategy of leveraging global assets and bold design to develop class-leading vehicles under our “One Ford” vision,” said Dan Morris, Ford's vice president of marketing, sales and service for Asia Pacific and Africa. "The new generation Ford Fiesta is already on sale in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and China, and it has been extremely well-received.

“We, at Ford, are dedicated to delivering on our promise of quality, safety, sustainability, value and fantastic design. We are confident that the launch of the new Fiesta in the Taiwan market will make a great impact on the auto industry here, and also be an important milestone for the Ford brand,” he added.

Jeffrey Nemeth, president of FLH, said “At the end of 2007, FLH launched the Brand Summit initiative, aiming to create a brand new position for Ford in Taiwan's auto market with unique, stylish and sporty European style concepts. The new Fiesta will help us deliver on that promise, bridge the gap FLH used to have in the small sedan segment, and improve Ford’s competitiveness.”

The new Fiesta was very well received by local media. Chao Huei-chun, a senior reporter of the United Daily News, headlined his story; "The Ford trendy small car FIESTA makes people linger in the car and not want to leave" Other journalists also gave the car high praise.
