Trendy Fiesta Takes on the Streets of Bangkok with “Fiesta City Rally”

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

BANGKOK, Thailand Ford Thailand hosted a fun test drive activity ‘Fiesta City Rally’ with members of the media for its trend-setting Ford Fiesta, showcasing the smart technologies, unique designs and fuel-efficient features that make the car ideal for city driving.

To start the contest, 18 media participants were divided into six groups of three people and provided with six Fiesta 1.5L Sport models in six colours to take on the streets of Bangkok and experience Fiesta’s amazing features firsthand.

At each stage of the race, participants had to use the Voice Control system to receive vocal clues and driving directions, featuring the voice of a leading Thai actor Chantavit “Ter” Dhanasevi, in order to find their way to the next destination. The Fiesta 1.5L engine and the responsive performance of the six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission made for a fun driving experience while drivers manoeuvred through Bangkok’s notorious traffic.

Their first destination was Lumpini Park, where they were surprised by Ter himself, who teamed up with them to take on three fun missions – Fiesta Jigsaw, Fiesta Scrapbook and Fiesta Smart Features. To complete each mission, the participants had to capture a photo of their successful result, hashtagged with #FiestaThailand and upload to their social networks.

The participating press then headed to a chic community mall to start off their next missions in which they were tasked with transforming themselves to match the sporty yet sophisticated style and colours of their team Fiestas in the ‘New Me with Ford Fiesta’ makeover contest.

At the mall, they had to pick three items – fashionable clothes, cool accessories and stationery – that reflected the identity of Ford Fiesta and share it with their friends and followers on social media.

“The Ford Fiesta’s advanced technologies offer a superior driving experience in a small package,” said Adisai Sirisinha, marketing director, Ford Thailand. “The advanced voice control system allows drivers to make calls and control the entertainment system via voice commands, all while safely keeping their hands on the wheels and eyes on the road.”

After experiencing Fiesta’s six-speed PowerShift automatic transmission, the participants all remarked that it’s the perfect car for urban driving because it combines the responsive performance and fuel economy of a manual with the convenience of an automatic.

Previous fuel efficiency test drives conducted in Thailand have demonstrated that the Ford Fiesta averages an impressive 21.86km per litre – equivalent to traveling more than 800km on just one tank of fuel.

In addition to its fuel efficiency and compact size, the Fiesta is big on safety features. In February, the vehicle received the maximum five-star rating among eight popular car models tested in the inaugural ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Programme) frontal collision crash test.

Summing up a fun-filled day, Yukontorn Wisadkosin, managing director, Ford Thailand, said, “The Fiesta City Rally highlighted just why the outstanding Fiesta was Ford Thailand’s best-selling nameplate last year. As we continue to introduce quality products with innovative technology and designs, we remain committed to further enhancing our service to ensure we’re providing a world-class customer experience.”
