SÃO PAULO -- The Ford Focus Hatch was chosen the best Brazilian car by Jornal do Carro, the major motoring newspaper of Brazil. In its anniversary issue, the publication evaluated 161 Brazilian cars in 16 categories and the big winner in all categories was the Ford Focus Hatch. In addition, the Focus Sedan and the Fusion also won in their categories. 
According to the newspaper the Focus Hatch was chosen as the evaluation champion because if it's excellent drivability and a broad list of standard equipment options, including a Flex Fuel engine, the Sigma 1.6-liter 16V. The car "has an excellent cost-benefit," the publication notes. In its segment, the Focus Hatch competed with models such as Chevrolet Astra and Fiat Stilo.
The Fusion and Focus Sedan models also were highlighted in the issue. The Focus Sedan was chosen as the winner in the medium sedan category for the second- straight year. The highlight again was the Sigma engine and the excellent price value compared with other competitors. The Fusion won the Sedan above 2.0-liter category also due to its substantial price value and for its more dynamic driving characteristics.
