Thai Media Impressed with All-New Ford Focus

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

KRABI, Thailand — Thai journalists kicked off the much-anticipated international media drive of the all-new Ford Focus in the spectacular beachside resort town of Krabi. The initial feedback: great design, great technologies, powerful engine and fun to drive!

By the time the event ends on July 15, approximately 380 automotive and lifestyle media, dealers and fleet owners from Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Japan will have completed the drive.

Media were taken on a deep dive session by Ford engineers and designers to provide them with an in-depth look at the key features of the global One Ford car, which will be produced at Ford’s new USD 450-million manufacturing facility in Rayong.

Ford’s experts guided the media through the driving quality features of the Focus, which comes with a 2.0-litre GDi engine and new electric power-assisted steering system to deliver precise response on the highway but remains light and manoeuvrable at lower speeds.

They were also briefed on Ford’s acclaimed kinetic design, which helped in the development of the Focus’ striking front end, sleek profile and athletic stance.

“The exterior is very well designed and gives a very sporty feeling. It delivers responsive performance. The engine is very powerful and gives me confidence while driving,” said Sinchai Phamornphol from Krungthep Turakij newspaper.
The Ford team also instructed the Thai media on the technologies packed into the all-new Focus, led by the award-winning Ford SYNC system, powered by Microsoft; Active Park Assist; Active City Stop, and Blind Spot Information System.
They also explored the safety aspects of the car, which exceed global safety standards for both occupant and pedestrians, including Electronic Stability Program, Emergency Brake Assist, Hill Launch Assist and Anti-Lock Brake System which includes Electronic Brakeforce Distribution.

After the deep dive session, it was time for the Thai media to jump into the all-new Focus for a 250 kilometre drive, which combined highway driving, twisty roads and urban driving. Throughout the drive, they were also encouraged to test SYNC with the help of a step-by-step guide and in-car challenge.

During a lunch stop, they were given the opportunity to try Active Park Assist and Active City Stop.

“What I love the most about the all-new Ford Focus is the technology. It’s the first time that a car in this range is equipped with SYNC and Active Park Assist features,” said Sanawat Suntornkarun from Siam Rath newspaper.
Thanathep Thanesniratsai from Headlight Mag was just as impressed.
“I can see a lot of improvements from the old Focus. I love the overall features, especially the engine, which gives you a smart, fun driving experience. The suspension and automatic wheel are superb. For me, the all-new Ford Focus is perfect for drivers who love a fun driving experience that they can enjoy with confidence,” Thanathep said.
“The all-new Ford Focus is very comfortable. I love the acceleration.  The power and torque are impressive, especially when you drive through hilly terrain. The technology features are outstanding,” said Somchai Kaethom from D Car Magazine.
