BRENTWOOD, UK - Ford’s World Rally Championship contender, Fiesta RS WRC, has been through its paces by journalists in Europe for the very first time.
Six media from UK, Spain, France, Russia, Germany and Finland got to pilot the 300PS racer around a specially laid out course at Carlisle Airport in England and each clocked up 25 kilometres behind the wheel.
The journalists, covering TV, daily newspapers, motoring magazines and motorsport publications, were accompanied in the car by Ford World Rally Team Driver Jari-Matti Latvala.
Also on hand to give advice and answer questions were Ford Racing manager Gerard Quinn and Ford World Rally Team Principal Malcolm Wilson.
The lucky journalists were the first to test a Fiesta RS WRC since its launch at the start of 2011. Here’s what some of them had to say afterwards.
David Evans (UK, Autosport / Motorsport News): “It was, as usual, a spectacularly well organised and well run event. I still can't believe what a great, great car you have and what an accommodating team you all are.“
Leonid Golovanov (Russia, Autoreview): “I can't simply describe all my emotions after the event, which was definitely one of the best drives in my life (if not simply the best). I'm extremely proud to be one of the six chosen journalists, I hope that I didn't too many foolish things and you will not blame me for destroying a set of hard-specs Michelins. Many thanks for 25 kilometres of pure happiness!”
Miika Wuorela (Finland, MTV3 / Vauhdin Maailma): “A big thanks for the "joyride". It will be remembered forever!”
