DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

SHANGHAI, China — A Ford dealer in China’s Shanxi province received global recognition from Ford Motor Company for her contribution to the local community.

Sun Qingping, owner of Shanxi Dachang Automobile Ltd. Co. has donated RMB 15 million (USD 2.37 million) to support the local community over the past 15 years. Those efforts have now been recognised, with Sun presented with Ford’s Salute to Dealers award.

The programme, which was launched in 2001, selects its recipients from more than 8,500 Ford and Lincoln dealers across the world for their contribution to the society.

Sun was the only dealer from China to receive the tribute at a ceremony held at the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) Convention in Las Vegas.

During the past 15 years, Sun's company has donated RMB 15 million to support a range of philanthropic endeavors, including youth education in low-income mountain areas, environmental protection, local community development projects and emergency relief.

"Sun’s been a model Ford dealer in so many ways. Her dealership exemplifies Ford's Qualitycare excellence in sales and service and her longstanding commitment to giving back to the community is inspiring," said Steven Chang, customer service director, Changan Ford Mazda. "Sun has maintained a very positive relationship with her local community and continues to devote her time, care, and financial support to a range of important causes. It’s well worth our admiration!"

'I am very excited to receive this prestigious award.  I am also honoured to be part of the Ford global family that has a long-standing tradition and commitment to giving back to the community," said Sun.

Helping Ford do its part to build a better world for more than 10 years, Sun and her team have conducted a number of projects to support local community development and environmental protection in China.

An active supporter of China’s “Project Hope” since 1999, Sun and her team have fully supported the construction of two primary schools in two low-income communities in Lvliang and Lifen, China. They not only provided the funding needed to build both schools from scratch, but after the schools were operational, the team made quarterly visits to the schools and provided books and stationery to the children.

In Shanxi’s Zuojian County, Sun and her team donated a well to supply the local community with water and built roads through rural areas to improve transportation. In 2008, they also began to provide financial assistance to disabled people in the community as well as elderly widows.

Environmental protection is another of Sun’s priorities. In 2005, she and her team began a reforestation project in a 2,000 square metre area in Taiyuan Xishan Mountain. She also donates RMB 500,000 (US $79,157) every year to support conservation projects in the Taihang Shan Mountains.
