PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa — Ford’s annual Long Service Awards honour the company’s longest-serving employees, and this year no less than 16 people notched up significant employment milestones with the Ford family at the Struandale Engine Plant.
An awards dinner was held at the upmarket Isango Gate Boutique Hotel in Summerstrand, Port Elizabeth, and was hosted by Jeff Nemeth, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa, along with Peter Lawson (VP Manufacturing), Wallace Yearwood, the outgoing plant manager, and his successor, Satya Banda.
“With a combined 450 years of service, you have all shown a remarkable commitment and dedication to the company, and made an important contribution to its success over the years,” Yearwood commented.
A total of 11 employees reached the 25-year milestone and two hit the 30-year mark. Nicholas Mapapu was the lone 35-year recipient, while Graham Boswell and Rubin Meleni each achieved the special status of 40 years of proud service to the company.
