DEARBORN - Multiple records were set in March as Export and Growth (E&G) notched its 16th straight month of record sales. With 13,048 vehicles sold, it was also E&G’s best March and best quarter ever, prompting Director Hal Feder to quip that it’s “fun making history.” March year-to-date sales are up 5 percent over a year ago.
The Focus, with a sales increase of 255 percent, leads in year-to-date sales and also lead Israel to its best March on record. In fact, Focus is the best-selling vehicle in that country.
Focus also sold particularly well in the United Arab Emirates, as did the Fiesta. Focus sales were up four times over the previous year in the UAE, while Fiesta sales were up three times over last year.
Dealers are enthused and, Feder said, are making unprecedented investments, including adding multiple Quick Lane and Quick Parts facilities. The rapid addition of Quick Parts locations is particularly exciting as it’s a new concept, with the first location opening less than five months ago. At least 19 Quick Parts are expected to come online in Saudi Arabia alone this year.
As for why Export and Growth – and Ford as a whole – are doing well, Feder points first to One Ford, then to its offshoot, One E&G. “All of our marketing is integrated as are our consumer business units. We’re looking at our business in a whole new way.”
Export and Growth provides sales, marketing, service, logistics, planning and financial support to dealers and distributors in four regions – Ford Middle East, Caribbean and Central America, Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia-Pacific.
