Communication is critical to our global business, whether we are talking with a team leader at the plant, sending a late night email to a manager, or on an early morning conference call involving three continents. You may think how we communicate does not matter as long as the job gets done, but the quality of our communication is a vital part of our jobs. If we design, manufacture, and market safe, reliable vehicles but we cannot communicate effectively; we will create additional risks and jeopardize our efforts to have profitable growth for all. What we write could be forwarded outside the Company and show up in a blog or newspaper. Or it may come to light years later when there is a government investigation or lawsuit. In these situations, our words can be misunderstood, taken out of context, or intentionally misinterpreted if we are not careful.
