SHANGHAI, China — Ruby, a Focus owner in Shanghai, is among many young Chinese who want to celebrate their wedding day in a unique but economic way. So instead of hiring a luxury vehicle fleet as wedding cars for her big day, Ruby wrote a post on the website of the Shanghai TFH Focus Club, inviting owners of red Focus cars to join her wedding car fleet.
The response was overwhelming.
On the wedding day, a fleet of nine red Focus hatchbacks gathered outside the groom's house in Shanghai and accompanied the bride and bridegroom for a cheerful 20 km journey to the wedding venue.
Those who joined the activity were all members of the TFH Focus Club and most had made friends with members like Ruby by participating in club activities. The all-red Focus fleet attracted great attention and many members who followed the event online expressed their interest in sharing cars on more wedding days.
Auto clubs in China are becoming an increasingly important platform for car owners and fans to share experiences, such as car maintenance and driving skills. Popular activities include weekend trips, city exploring and networking events.
