BRENTWOOD, England - New Fiesta ST has got UK road testers drooling following initial test drives of this fastest Fiesta to-date.
What Car? Online gives it a maximum five-stars out-of-five, adding: “The Fiesta ST is simply sensational when you're going for it, and yet surprisingly civilised when you want to take things more sedately. It's an incredibly well-balanced machine, delivering wholehearted performance and a superb blend of agility and comfort.
At £16,995 it's an absolute steal and is likely to hold its value extremely well. To our minds, it's a classic in the making and almost guaranteed a place in the annals of hot hatch history. It's too early to say whether it will sit alongside legends such as the original Golf GTI and Peugeot 205 GTi, but we wouldn't bet against it.”
Auto Express Online also gives it a five-star rating: “The Ford Fiesta ST isn’t the sharpest hot hatch to drive, but that’s not what it’s all about. An eager engine, brilliant handling and some excellent seats are there when you fancy a B-road blast, but the fact it’s still a Fiesta - albeit a firmer-riding one - means that you can live with it every day with minimum compromise. Add in the bargain purchase price, and the new Clio RS and Peugeot 208 GTi have their work cut out.”
Car Online is equally impressed: “We’ll need to drive it in the UK to be sure, but our first taste of the Fiesta ST leaves us seriously impressed. At £17k it’s great value, plus it’s stylish, frugal and practical too. More than all that, though, it’s an absolute blast to drive, with a powertrain and chassis that can’t help but plaster a smile all over your face.”
Built at Ford’s assembly plant in Cologne, Germany, new Fiesta ST sprints from 0-62mph in just 6.9 seconds yet remains capable of returning 47.9mpg and CO2 emissions of just 138g/km.
