Message from Mark Fields: Driver Distraction and the Need to SYNC First
During the past several years, we’ve all worked hard to make Ford not just a leading automotive company but also a recognized technology company. With this leadership comes a responsibility we take seriously – to continue making the driving experience a safe experience. With technologies such as SYNC and MyFord Touch, that means more customers will be able to drive the best way we can advocate, with hands on the wheel and eyes on the road.
Just as we lead in developing the technology, we must also set the example on how to safely integrate new technologies into our daily drives. Click here to read the complete message.
Mobile Communications Equipment Standard
Ford prohibits the use of all hand-held devices except when used with a hands-free system such as SYNC or a Bluetooth device with voice commands. This standard applies to anyone driving a Ford owned vehicle including management lease vehicles, and also anyone using company provided mobile communications equipment such as a cell phone or BlackBerry. If you need to make a call with a handheld device that doesn’t have voice controls, Ford asks that you wait to make the call or pull over and stop in a safe area.
