As part of the SYNC First campaign, during April @Ford will be providing answers to some of the questions that are commonly asked about using SYNC.
Q. What are the "hands-free" advantages of SYNC?
A. SYNC delivers a truly hands-free experience because it is voice-activated. Using a “hands-free” earbud or speaker phone still requires the driver to take their hands off the steering wheel and eyes off the road to manually select phone numbers to activate the phone call. With SYNC, once your mobile phone is Bluetooth-paired and fully integrated, you’re able to concentrate on the road ahead, and access your phone with a simple touch of the “Voice” button on the steering wheel. Your phone book can be accessed using voice commands such as “Call Mom” or “Dial…8-0-0-3-9-2-3-6-7-3.” This is an especially smart solution as more and more states and jurisdictions outlaw driving while talking on a handheld phone.
Q. How do I pair my mobile phone to SYNC?
A. Pairing your phone is easy and only needs to be done once. Click on the below links to view and print a quick reference phone pairing guide for:

Q. Will SYNC work with all mobile phones?

Q. How do I make a mobile phone call using SYNC?
A. If you have successfully paired your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone with SYNC and you’d like to make a hands-free call, press the SYNC button that is on your steering wheel and when prompted say one of several voice commands. For example, if you’re calling your friend Jane Smith, say "Call Jane Smith," or "Call Jane at home" or "Call Jane at work" if you have multiple numbers listed for her. If Jane’s number isn’t programmed into your mobile phone, just say "Dial” followed by the phone digits. You can also visit the Making a Hands-Free Call page on syncmyride.com to print or download personalized detailed instructions that are specific to your vehicle make and model year.
Q. How do I answer a mobile phone call using SYNC?
A. If you have successfully paired your Bluetooth-enabled mobile phone with SYNC and someone calls it, SYNC will sound the incoming call tone. To answer the call, press the Phone button that is on your steering wheel. To ignore or reject the call, either do nothing or press and hold the Phone button.
Q. Can I change the language the SYNC unit understands and uses to communicate with me?
A. SYNC allows you to select from three languages: U.S. English, Canadian French, and North American Spanish. Once selected, all radio display messages and prompts will be in the selected language.
Q. How do I know what SYNC features are available in my vehicle and if my SYNC needs a software update?
A. Visit the SYNC Features by Model Year page on syncmyride.com to browse SYNC features and upgrade paths by vehicle and model year. You can also stay current with SYNC updates by setting up your SYNC Owner Account which will allow Ford to use your VIN to notify you of any updates that will help make your system work optimally.
