HOMESTEAD -- Nic Jonsson, co-driver of the No. 75 Krohn Racing Ford Lola, heads to Homestead-Miami Speedway this weekend for the second round in the GRAND-AM Rolex Series. The Krohn Racing team is coming off a fourth place finish at the Rolex 24 At Daytona.

Q. HOW DO YOU FEEL HEADING INTO THIS WEEKEND’S RACE?
A. I think we feel really good heading into this race. We also had a really good finish in Daytona. We are the only team to run with the Lola prototype of course, working with the Ford power plant. We are very fortunate to have this power plant help our development. Since we are running one Lola this year, we only have one car to get data from, which is a little more difficult than all of the Riley guys out there who have 14 cars that they can get data from, but we’re very confident. The engineers have done a fantastic job over the past year and a half or so to get this car to run fast, and we feel very good about going into this weekend at Homestead.
Q. YOU HAVE ALSO MADE A CO-DRIVER SWITCH. TEAM OWNER TRACY KROHN WILL BE SHARING THE WHEEL WITH YOU THIS SEASON.
A. Tracy and I have been racing together for about six years on and off. For the most part we’ve been teammates in the same car and the last two years I’ve been driving with Ricardo Zonta. Tracy and I work really closely and good together. I’m looking forward to getting back into that mind-set again working with him. Tracy has been making tremendous improvements over the past year or so. He took a step back last year and focused on getting back in shape both mentally and physically.
Q. YOU’RE HEADING TO HOMESTEAD EARLIER IN THE SEASON THIS YEAR. DOES THAT AFFECT THE WAY YOU PREPARE YOURSELF GOING INTO THIS RACE?
A. It does a little bit. Normally we don’t go to Homestead until October. After the summer the surfaces are much more heated up and you have more heat penetrating from the track and now it’s going to be more like ambient temperature with just the sun shining on the surface. That makes a difference on the timing and how fast the cars come in and so forth. I think this track is very slippery to start with and it’s a very abrasive surface. We just have to make the changes on Friday according to the track conditions and see how we can get better lap times. We also have a new tire this year, so we don’t really know how it’s going to behave on this type of surface.
