GENEVA – Ford is introducing a range of additional powertrain enhancements for the Mondeo, S-MAX and Galaxy models.
A new 1.6-litre Duratorq TDCi, with peak power of 115 PS (85 kW), has been added to the range. Additionally, the Ford Auto-Start-Stop system is available for this small displacement diesel engine, as well as for the recently introduced 1.6-litre EcoBoost engine (160 PS / 118 kW).
Completing thes enhancements is the new top-of-the-range 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi diesel engine (200 PS / 147 kW), which is also now available with Ford's six-speed automatic transmission.
"The introduction of the new small-displacement diesel engine and Ford Auto-Start-Stop system are further important steps towards even more sustainable mobility," said Rolf Deges, chief programme engineer for Ford of Europe's recently freshened CD-Car range.
"All through Europe there is a growing demand for frugal, smaller displacement powertrains and new technologies, and we are more than happy to address this demand with our new entries."
The Ford Auto-Start-Stop system can reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by up to five per cent in mixed driving conditions. In an urban environment and in heavy traffic, with frequent stops, the savings could increase to as much as 10 per cent.
