Philippines Media takes Focus Out for a Spin

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

MANILA, Philippines — To bid farewell to the summer season, a group of 12 Philippine automotive and non-automotive media had the opportunity to experience driving the all-new Ford Focus in the scenic island of Bohol.

“The agenda for our Summer Fun Focus Drive was just that – enjoy the last week of summer and the all-new Focus. Bohol proved to be the perfect location with all the scenic tourist attractions and great winding roads – allowing our drivers to test Focus’ class-leading drive quality, handling and fuel-efficiency,” says Anika Salceda-Wycoco, Communications Manager, Ford Philippines.
“The Focus is a naturally fast car, and we relished its handling on the tight switchback roads that were prevalent on the island. One advantage of the Focus is that its razor sharp handling doesn't come at the expense of comfort. The ride is supple, with rough roads being filtered out quite efficiently. The highly rigid body, reinforced with high strength steel is an excellent platform for the sophisticated suspension,” Jason Ang, Philippine Daily Inquirer.

Bohol is located in the Visayas region, south of Manila, Luzon. Media started the day early with a warm welcome with all the Focus vehicles waiting for them at the airport upon their arrival, which took them directly to the newly opened Ford Bohol dealership.
Ford Bohol is one of 12 new Ford dealerships in the Philippines and over the next six months, Ford will establish dealerships in General Santos, Zamboanga, and Baguio, expanding its dealership network to 35 by year-end.
After the quick stopover, the convoy proceeded to the Loboc River, where the group settled for a traditional lunch cruise. Afterwards, the media drove to the Tarsier Sanctuary and on to explore and snap group photos at the majestic man-made forest.
"Driving the Ford Focus on the narrow and sometimes unpaved rough roads of Bohol proved that it is a car you can truly rely on. It is quite a looker on the streets and its premium features make it a car you can comfortably drive wherever you decide to take a road trip,” KC Canlas of HWM Magazine.
Media also got a chance to drive through the scenic Chocolate Hills and a view the underground Hinagdanan Caves. After a fun and fully-packed day, members of the media finally got to wind down for the night at the Bluewater Panglao Resort.
The next morning, in addition to enjoy the sunny weather, Ford prepared a special activity that tested the media’s skills in kayaking, swimming and completing puzzles. This friendly contest was a fun way to come together and appreciate the resort’s amenities.
After having lunch, media made their way to the airport and a quick stopover to take home some local goodies for their families and friends before driving to Tagbilaran Airport for their flight back to Manila.
“The Ford Focus Summer Fun Drive was a great way to experience the cars in a very nice environment. The fact that there were no contests like fuel economy runs, Facebook-based contests and the like, made it a really good event where one can concentrate on appreciating the cars,” Brent Co, AutoIndustriya.com.
