COLOGNE, Germany - “One Ford is absolutely the right plan to return Europe to profitability by mid-decade,” said Ford Motor Company COO Mark Fields at an employee Townhall meeting in Cologne today.
“Rewind back five or six years ago and the US was in a very similar situation,” he said. “The market was the lowest for about 25 years and there was a lot of uncertainty. But we set out our One Ford plan to invest in products, strengthening our brand and focus on cost. Fast forward to today and you see record profitability in North America. So I’m absolutely certain it is the right plan for Europe.”
Fields went on to say that Ford in Europe had several advantages, it was part of a truly global organisation, it had the freshest product line-up of any of its key competitors and it had the right people – ‘the best in the industry.’
“When you look at the situation here in Europe, it is very tough,” he added. “But keep in mind that we have absolutely the right plan to achieve profitability at mid-decade.”
Fields went on to answer a range of questions from employees involved in areas of Customer Service, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Finance and Marketing & Sales.
The questions ranged from launch processes to external risk factors and joint ventures.
