TOKYO, Japan – In celebration of the Ford Mustang's 46th birthday, Randy Krieger, president of Ford Japan, announced today that 25 units of the limited edition Mustang V8 GT Performance Package will be available through Ford dealerships in Japan starting on April 17.
The Mustang V8 GT Performance Package is based on the GT series fitted with a 4.6-litre V8 engine. The V8 engine is mated with a five-speed manual transmission, which is exclusive to this limited edition. A lower final gear ratio increases accelerating performance, while the front brakes come with unique brake calipers and pads, allowing the driver to enjoy Mustang’s dynamic drive, mastering the immense power developed by the 4.6-litre V8 engine.
The Mustang's exclusively designed 19-inch aluminium-alloy wheels give an even more aggressive impression, while the interior is characterised by a special red leather-wrapped steering wheel and door trim panel inserts and seats. The white stripe-accented seats effectively highlight the vehicle's sporty atmosphere.
Ever since it arrived in the United States in 1964, the Ford Mustang has won enthusiasts’ affection throughout the world, thanks to its bold styling, powerful engine and the exciting drive derived from the rear-wheel drive.
In Japan, the Mustang is a core model that gives shape to the Ford brand’s key concept: “Make Every Day Exciting.” With this limited edition release, Ford aims to not only enhance Mustang’s name recognition but also the brand’s presence in Japan
Priced at JPY 5 million (USD 53,000), the Mustang V8 GT Performance Package comes in two exterior colours, black and candy red.
