DEARBORN - The latest enhancement to the ePOD (email on Personally-Owned Devices) service makes it possible for Ford employees using iPhone and iPad devices to send and read encrypted Ford email messages and attachments.
ePOD users who work in roles that involve access to confidential company information can now send and read confidential data securely, per company policy, while enjoying the flexibility and convenience of accessing their Ford email, calendar and corporate directory anytime, anywhere from a single device (from within their country). The service is now available for eligible employees in countries with approved ePOD participation agreements. Encryption for BlackBerry and Android devices is expected later in 2012. There are no additional charges to employees if they choose to use the encryption service with ePOD.
“The Digital Worker team continues to look for ways to improve mobility service options and allow Ford employees to use advances in technology, while respecting corporate policies that ensure information security”, said Maru Flores, manager, Digital Worker program. Recent upgrades to the service include enhancements to functionality, expansion to Android devices, and the availability of ePOD to countries in Europe, including Romania, Hungary, Finland, Russia, Belgium and Netherlands.
The ePOD service is optional for Ford full and part-time employees who want to use their personal device to access Ford corporate email, calendars and contacts. ePOD employs the self and community support approach, where users of this service obtain support from available resources including the ePOD Community Support site, ePOD Community Support Forum, Learning Resources, cellular carrier, or colleagues. ePOD users may also wish to review the list of Best Practices collected and published by the Digital Worker team.
