CHENNAI, India - The phenomenal Ford Figo has made a triple award winning start to 2011 with BBC Top Gear magazine naming it the "2010 Small Car of the Year." In addition, Figo was voted CNBC TV18-Overdrive's "Compact Car of the Year" and the "Viewer's Choice" awards by a panel of prestigious jury members and viewers, respectively.
The award will be presented by the Top Gear team at the Ford Corporate office in Chennai later this month.
The unmatched value for money and comprehensive features offered by the Figo seems to have fascinated the customers and auto experts alike. This was also the week when the Ford india leadership was invited to the presentation ceremony of the `The Viewer's Choice Award' and `Compact Car of the Year by CNBC TV18-Overdrive.'
In selecting Figo as the CNBC TV 18-Overdrive "Compact Car of the Year" the judging jury said it stood out from the in-class competitors because of its roominess, drivability, cool design and fuel-efficiency.
The award was accepted by Nigel Wark, executive director, Marketing Sales and Service, Ford India at an awards presentation ceremony held in Mumbai on January 4.
"We are delighted with Figo's award winning start to 2011! The viewer's choice accolade is especially satisfying because it further recognises Figo's many tremendous value for money features and benefits," said Wark.
The CNBC TV18-Overdrive judging panel included Karun Chandok, the youngest-ever Indian National Racing Car Champion; Gaurav Gill, the Indian National Rally champion and a production WRC driver; Hari Singh, a five-time Indian National Rally champion and V.K. Vishwanathan, managing director, Bosch India.
Since it was launched in March 2010, the Figo has garnered critical acclaim from many motoring journalists and bloggers. It has also struck a chord with new car buyers nationwide with more than 60,000 sales reported to date.
