QINGDAO, China — The outstanding fuel efficiency of the new 2011 Ford Mondeo-Zhisheng was highlighted during a recent media test drive in Qingdao, with one journalist achieving an average fuel consumption of just 4.98L/100km in the 2.0L Mondeo GTDi.
The 29 media representatives took the Mondeo-Zhisheng, equipped with the powerful, yet fuel-efficient, 2.0L EcoBoost engine mated to a PowerShift 6-speed automatic transmission, through Shandong Province from September 22-23. The vehicle is the first Ford model in China equipped with this environmentally friendly and award-winning engine.
In addition to a comprehensive presentation which explained the product features in detail, a half-day fuel efficiency contest enabled media to focus on one of the key characteristics of the new Mondeo-Zhisheng – outstanding fuel efficiency.
The journalists were divided into eight groups, each driving a Mondeo-Zhisheng for 60 kilometres on both highways and standard roads. The test drive session generated very good fuel efficiency results, with Zhonghao Zhang from Jinan TV taking the win.
Speaking about the experience, Da Lu from Qingdao Traffic Radio Station said, “I’ve noticed an enormous upgrade in the new Mondeo’s fuel efficiency and powertrain. The fuel consumption of the car I drove was 3.5 litres over a distance of 60 kilometres, which is really impressive.”
During the event, the new Mondeo-Zhisheng was displayed on Qingdao beach for a photo shoot. Media got a close look at improvements that have been made to the vehicle, including exterior, interior, safety and comfort.
“The new exterior gives the Mondeo a more premium look and will make it more popular in the market,” commented Yanjie Liu of The Peninsula Metropolis.
“With a great combination of business and sport, Mondeo is such a unique vehicle,” said Tao Liu, from Shangdong Business Daily.
The next test drive stops for the Ford Mondeo-Zhisheng will be held in Tianjin, Wuhan, Kunming and Nanjing over the next four weeks.
