New MKS and MKT: Technology Drives Lincoln Forward

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

DETROIT – New technologies on the Lincoln MKS and MKT deliver more power, better fuel economy and an even more engaging driving experience, giving full-size luxury sedan and crossover customers fresh reasons to consider Lincoln’s newest vehicles.

“If you want to see the future of Lincoln, take a look at the exciting new Lincoln MKZ Concept,” said Scott Tobin, director, Lincoln Product Development. “If you want to drive the future of Lincoln, there’s the new MKS and MKT coming this spring. They signal the direction Lincoln is heading when it comes to delivering a refined and engaging driving experience.”

Lincoln MKS Highlights
In addition to a significantly updated exterior and interior (click here for information covering the new MKS), the new MKS stands out among luxury-class choices because:

>  Lincoln Drive Control is an automatic system that delivers an ideal balance of a smooth ride with confident handling as it intuitively responds to the driver’s commands and the road itself
Additionally, Lincoln Drive Control enables drivers to purposefully change the on-road personality of the MKS. Moving the gear selector from Drive to Sport automatically shifts handling performance, ride firmness, throttle response, shift feel, steering response and traction control/electronic stability control parameters. Drivers can further personalize the Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension settings, including selecting the smoother-riding Comfort setting, using MyLincoln Touch™
>  Lincoln MKS is the only car in its segment to offer Continuously Controlled Damping as standard equipment. By monitoring suspension settings up to 500 times per second, the real-time system adjusts the suspension 20 times per second to deliver more controlled handling with a smoother ride
>  The standard 3.7-liter V6 engine delivers more projected horsepower (300 horsepower versus 274 horsepower) and is coupled with improved fuel economy – projected 19 mpg city/28 mpg highway, a 3-mpg highway improvement versus today’s car. The optional EcoBoost™ 3.5-liter V6 also produces more horsepower, 365 vs. 355
>  Collision warning, new Lane Keeping Alert and new Lane Keeping Aid technologies help warn drivers of potentially dangerous situations and can help them avoid common accidents
>  Expanded SYNC® functionality now includes standard Operator Assist and local Wi-Fi® hotspot capabilities for laptops and tablets
New Lincoln MKT Highlights
The new MKT offers most of the same improvements added to the MKS, including Lincoln Drive Control, CCD, more power and improved fuel economy (click here for information covering the new MKT). In addition, MKT-specific features include:
>  Inflatable second-row outboard safety belts. Rear seat passengers – often children or mature passengers – can be more vulnerable to head, chest and neck injuries. The available inflatable second-row, outboard safety belts spread impact forces across more than five times the area of conventional safety belts, reducing pressure on the chest while helping to control head and neck motion and helping reduce the risk of injuries
>  Adding even greater capabilities to the crossover’s standard collection of driver assist technologies (an array of six airbags, anti-lock brakes, traction control and AdvanceTrac® with RSC® Roll Stability Control™), Curve Control helps drivers maintain control in the MKT when taking a curve too quickly, an error contributing to some 50,000 crashes in the U.S. annually
Lincoln Care
Lincoln offers a comprehensive warranty and complimentary maintenance package on all of its vehicles, including:
>  Four-year, 50,000-mile complimentary maintenance, which includes coverage for oil and filter changes, tire rotations and multipoint inspections for up to eight service visits for all 2011 model year and newer vehicles
>  Four-year, 50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper limited warranty
>  Five-year, 60,000-mile safety restraint limited warranty
>  Five-year, unlimited mileage corrosion limited warranty
>  Six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain limited warranty
