MOSCOW – The new Focus was named the best car in its class in the annual “Car of the Year in Russia” awards ceremony, staged in Moscow recently. It is the fifth time that the popular Ford model has won the award.
“It is hard to be a leader and we are delighted that the Focus has kept the title won by its predecessors and proud of the success ithas had over the past 12 years,” said Maria Tsaruk, marketing manager, passenger cars, FordSollers. “New Focus continues to win the affection of Russians, and the award means that a lot of Russians share our opinion that it is more than a car.
“Sporty and modern design, the highest quality, safety and finish, together with impressive fuel efficiency, dynamic on-road performance and innovative technologies distinguish the new Focus from its competitors. These are qualities that were not previously available in C-segment cars available in Russia.”
The Focus is available in Russia in all three body styles (five-door, four-door and wagon), four series, ten colours and five engine variants (four petrol and one diesel), with manual or automatic transmission. More than 50,000 Russians have already purchased the new model.
The national “Car of the Year in Russia” awards are based on the opinions of Russian motorists, who nominate their best vehicles from among more than 370 models in 20 categories. The voting for the 2012 awards was conducted in the period December 1, 2011 to February 29, 2012.
Yesterday’s awards ceremony was the twelfth to be staged. Significantly, Ford has received an award every year.
