Nanjing REC Engine Engineering Team Wins Praise from Joint Venture Partner Changan Ford

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

NANJING, China - On May 12, the Engine Engineering team at the Nanjing REC facility gathered together to celebrate their recent collaboration with joint venture (JV) partner Changan Ford in Chongqing. The REC team was recognized for their outstanding collaboration with Changan Ford, in delivering the award winning Fox 1.0L EcoBoost engine, which just launched in Chongqing in March.
Not only was this a major milestone for Ford, since the first Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine in China came off the production line at the Changan Ford Engine Plant, but it established a stronger relationship between REC and Changan Ford that will pave the way for future collaborations. This follows in the footsteps of the successful localization of several engines in China to support strong growth in Ford’s China market share.
Dave Filipe, director, Global Engine Engineering, Ford Motor Company, who was visiting the facility to lead a town hall with the REC Engine Engineering team, congratulated the team on their incredible growth and success: “The REC team has grown quite a bit and you’re doing lots of great work on programs, localizations and so on. We see this as a critical part of our business, so that’s why we decided to move the Global Sigma engine program here to Nanjing. This is the first significant major engine program that you as a team are responsible to manage throughout the whole world, and that’s because of all the great accomplishments and successes you’ve achieved. Thank you and wish you all the best of luck with Sigma.”
The award was presented on behalf of the Changan Ford team by Engine Program Manager Matti Palehepitiya, who is based in Chongqing. “I want to take the time to congratulate the REC team, this has been a great learning curve and great transition into taking on the Global Sigma engine program and other programs that you have been given,” he said. The onsite support from the REC team meant more efficient and quick issue resolution during the launch phase, especially with their collaboration with the Manufacturing team and other functional teams.
“The Fox program formed a solid blueprint for a continued partnership with our JV partner to develop and implement more engines in China,” said Jagadish Sorab, Engine Chief Engineer, Ford AP. “There are other engines that are now in the pipeline that will follow this same partnership, and many more to come between now and 2017/18.”
