TOKYO, Japan – In January, the Ford Mustang V8 GT Convertible took part in a ride and drive programme organised by ENGINE magazine for leading automotive journalists in Japan.
A total of 33 imported vehicles took part in the programme, including a Lamborghini Gallardo, Volvo V70 and Jaguar XFR. The event took place in Sodegaura where the 17 journalists took turns navigating the 2,400-metre ''Forest Raceway” circuit.
The Mustang V8 GT Convertible made a strong impression on the journalists, and Ford's high standards of quality did not go unnoticed.
''I assume that today, no Japanese or European automaker could make a car like this,'' said journalist Takayuki Ooi.
The upgrades to the Mustang also were remarked on by the journalists.
''The V8’s engine proved more powerful than the previous Mustang,'' noted Takumi Yoshida.
''The interior has a more mature feel to it than the previous models,'' said Jiro Sasame.
Following the test drives, the vehicles were photographed for a 60-page spread in the April Issue of ENGINE magazine.
With a monthly circulation of over 40,000, ENGINE is a Japanese lifestyle magazine targeted at mature male readers with specialised tastes in fashion, food and vehicles.
