DOVER -- NASCAR’s fledgling Hall of Fame in downtown Charlotte will unveil its second class on Wednesday, Oct. 13 as part of Bank of America 400 week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Five men will be the Class of ’11, joining this year’s inaugural class of Richard Petty and Junior Johnson, and the late Bill France Sr., Bill France Jr. and Dale Earnhardt Sr.

LOUDON -- It’s been a good few weeks for Chase Elliott, son of Ford Racing legend Bill Elliott. On Labor Day weekend the 15-year-old high school student won a 200-lap PASS Late Model race at historic North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina. On Saturday night he won the inaugural George Elliott Memorial 100 at the half-mile Gresham Motorsports Park at Jefferson, Ga., northeast of Atlanta.

LOUDON -- Richard Petty Motorsports teamed with New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the weekend to make life a little brighter for employees affected by the Aug. 3 shooting in Hartford Distributors. A disgruntled employee killed eight workers, and then turned the gun on himself while being led from the building after being fired. The company is a large beer distributorship, with Budweiser among its clients.

He’s convinced the current Chase for the Championship format isn’t good for racing and he’s worried that some of the changes he’s hearing about will only make it worse.

LOUDON -- Ford Racing didn’t have a top-10 finisher in Sunday afternoon’s Sylvania 300 in Loudon, N.H., only the second time in 27 races a Fusion hasn’t been top-10 this year. Carl Edwards of Roush Fenway Racing was closest, finishing 11th in the opening round of the 10-round NASCAR Chase for the Championship. He ran much better than that—leading three times for four laps and running top-five as late as lap 200—but late-race track position and the timing of cautions and pit stops kept him from regaining his early form.

NEW JERSEY -- Ford Rally driver Tanner Foust is on a roll.  He drove his 600hp ROCKSTAR Fiesta to double gold at the X Games in July, and then duplicated the domination at New Jersey Motorsports Park this past weekend in the inaugural RallyCar US Rallycross Championship event.  Foust, who is running five events in the European Rallycross Championship in the same Ford Fiesta, is bullish on the future of the fledgling Rallycross sport.  So bullish that Foust, who in the past has competed in multiple series (Rally America, Formula Drift, Time Attack) in addition to his television work for SPEED and Top Gear USA, has constructed his racing calendar around Rallycross and X Games.   After putting the finishing touches on a winning weekend that saw him win the six-lap finale by 4.2 seconds over Subaru rival Travis Pastrana, Foust took a few minutes to chat with Ford Racing about Fiesta and Rallycross.

SÃO PAULO -- Ford was named champion of the 18th Rally dos Sertões, the second largest rally in the world, after ten days of racing and 4,486 km. The competition path went through six Brazilian states with varying road surfaces and difficulty level. Ford won both in the light trucks category, with Ford F-4000 4x4, and the heavy category, with Ford Cargo 1722e 4x4.  In addition, Ford held many podium positions in the overall standings.

ATLANTA -- Kasey Kahne, driver of the No. 9 Budweiser Ford Fusion, is the defending race champion at the fall Atlanta race and is looking to mount a late rally to make the field for the 12-driver Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.  With two races remaining, he is 16th in the standings, 136 points out of 12th place. Kahne holds the record for the biggest comeback with two races to go before the Chase, coming from 90 points down with two races to go in 2006 to make the field.  Kahne talked with media members as part of the weekly NASCAR teleconference and discussed a variety of topics, including his prospects for making the Chase.

This weekend Foust and Fiesta were once again was the class of the competition winning the Rallycross AWD Main event by a commanding 4.24 seconds over their closest competitor.

DEARBORN -- Richard Petty Motorsports announced today that Marcos Ambrose has signed a multi-year agreement to drive the No. 9 Stanley Ford Fusion, beginning with the 2011 season.  This will be the second time in his NASCAR career that Ambrose will be driving a Ford, following his initial foray into the sport in 2006 when he started in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and later the NASCAR Nationwide Series with JTG Racing.  Ambrose also won two championships driving for Ford in the V8 SuperCar series while living in Australia.

POCONO -- Greg Biffle’s win on Sunday in the Sunoco Red Cross Pennsylvania 500 represented the first points race victory for Ford Racing’s new FR9 engine.  Kasey Kahne won his Gatorade Duel 150 race earlier in the year at Daytona, and the Wood Brothers have run in on their part-time schedule, but this represented the first win since FR9 went full-time among the Roush Fenway and Richard Petty Motorsports teams in June.  Roush Yates engine builder Doug Yates spoke to Ford Racing about reaching Victory Lane once again.

JYVÄSKYLÄ -- Birthday boy Mikko Hirvonen and co-driver Jarmo Lehtinen will defend Ford's Rally Finland (29 - 31 July) title next week in one of the shortest FIA World Rally Championship events in history. Since the WRC's launch in 1973, only one rally has scheduled fewer competitive kilometres than this eighth round of the 13-event series. That was in Finland in 1975 when the event was known by its traditional name - the 1000 Lakes Rally.

LOS ANGELES -- Brian Deegan is one of the most decorated athletes in X Games history, having won 10 medals in competition, including three gold medals for Moto X Best Trick (2002, 2003 and 2005). A year ago, Deegan took on a new challenge at X Games when he made his Rally Racing debut driving the ROCKSTAR Fiesta. It didn’t take Deegan long to make an impact, as he was finished fourth overall, losing his semifinal show down with Travis Pastrana only because he damaged his Fiesta on the infamous jump. In 2010, Deegan returns for another shot at adding to his X Games medal count. He will again pilot a ROCKSTAR Fiesta, teaming with fellow ROCKSTAR driver Tanner Foust, defending champion Kenny Brack and Ford global rally driver Ken Block.  This Week In Ford Racing caught up with the founder of the Metal Mulisha to chat about his off road truck program and his expectations for X Games next week.
