FARO -- The record-breaking BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team will aim to end the opening half of the FIA World Rally Championship season on a high note in Portugal this week.  Victory in New Zealand earlier this month was Ford's 75th WRC success.  Not only did it make the company the most successful manufacturer in the championship's history, but it also moved the squad to within five points of the lead in the 2010 standings.

DETROIT -- Robert Hight drive of the John Force Racing Auto Club Ford Mustang Funny Car won the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car championship by taking full advantage of the ‘Countdown to One.’  Hight was the last driver to qualifying for the NHRA Playoffs clinching his berth in the post season on the final day of the “regular season.” Hight and his crew chief Jimmy Prock then proceeded to dominate the Countdown winning three times and clinching Hight’s first championship after finishing as the runner-up three times.

TALLADEGA -- Jack Roush, owner of Roush Fenway Racing, watched his team win two of the four restrictor plate races last season, including last fall’s event at Talladega Superspeedway, which is the site of this weekend’s Aaron’s 499.  A year ago, this race produced the most dramatic moment when Carl Edwards, who was leading as he approached the finish line, made contact with Brad Keselowski and went spinning into the catchfence.  Edwards emerged unscathed and after getting out of his car, jogged across the finish line.  Roush spoke about his team’s success at the superspeedways a year ago and how he thinks the spoiler will react on Sunday.

TALLADEGA -- Ford Racing’s ‘FR9’ engine will take another step toward full implementation this weekend as all cars under the Roush Fenway and Richard Petty Motorsports umbrella will be running the new piece at Talladega Superspeedway.  This will mark the first points race in which a majority of Fords in the field will have the ‘FR9’.  At Daytona, teams ran it in practice, qualifying and the Gatorade Duels, but only Bill Elliott, Matt Kenseth and Elliott Sadler ran it in the Daytona 500.  Ford Racing engineer David Simon spoke about the progression of the ‘FR9’ and how much longer it will be until the engine is racing with all Ford teams on a regular basis.

FORT WORTH  -- Bill Elliott, driver of the No. 21 Motorcraft Ford Fusion, qualified 36th on Friday will be making his first series start since finishing 34th in Atlanta. In only his second time behind the wheel of his 2011 Mustang, Gittin Jr. was able to move past the competition to take first place in the first race of the season.

ISTANBUL -- An exciting opening leg of the Rally of Turkey ended with both BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team crews well-placed in a cluster of six competitors battling for top billing in this fourth round of the FIA World Rally Championship.  Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen lie third in a Ford Focus RS World Rally Car, just 12.2sec from the lead, while team-mates Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila are 27.5sec from the lead in sixth.

Changan Ford Racing Team: Double Win to Start the Season

SHANGHAI -- The heavy rain on Sunday afternoon resulted in an even more unpredictable race. Tengyi Jiang won the home round clinching his first ever winner trophy in touring car race. Three other Changan Ford drivers Andy Yan, Martin Cao and Rainey He captured 4th, 5th and 6th, respectively. Changan Ford racing team was the team winner of 2010 CTCC race 1 and a double win certainly was a brilliant start of the season.

SHANGHAI -- The China Touring Car Championship (CTCC) came back to Shanghai Tianma Circuit (STC) after 4-months’ season break. Changan Ford racing team wowed the public with a hat trick 1-2-3 result—Tengyi Jiang grabbed pole in 2000 cc (1:08.556) while his teammates Rainey He and Martin Cao qualified 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Andy Yan was 8th. With 3 cars on the front, Changan Ford Racing team will enjoy an unquestionable dream start on Sunday.
