DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

Fiesta RRC Wins Cyprus Rally

Nasser Al-Attiyah / Giovanni Bernacchini piloted their M-Sport prepared Ford Fiesta RRC to a dominant victory in the Cyprus Rally, the final round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge. Al-Attiyah sped through the 13 stages of the demanding event, held over both gravel and asphalt speed tests, on the Mediterranean island. Claiming five fastest times, he completed the rally without any punctures to triumph by more than three-and-a-half minutes and register the Fiesta RRC’s third IRC success. The Qatari placed sixth in the final championship standings, whilst the victory vaulted him into the lead of the FIA Middle East Rally Championship with just one round remaining.

Fiesta S2000 Takes South African Titles

Mark Cronje / Robin Houghton and Ford clinched the drivers’ and manufacturers’ South African Rally Championship crowns in the final outing of the season, the Garden Route Rally, held over 11 rocky special stages in the Western Cape. Behind the wheel of their M-Sport supported, privately-run Sasolracing Ford Fiesta S2000, the duo assumed a commanding lead before suffering two punctures on the second day. However, fourth place was sufficient to secure the laurels. Cronje’s success marked his first South African title and came after claiming four victories from eight rounds, whilst it was Ford’s first championship triumph in the country since 1976. Son-and-father pairing Jon Williams / Doug Williams wound up third in both the rally and the final standings in a similar car. That helped Sasolracing to win the team award on the event and keep the squad’s unbroken podium run in 2012 intact. Ashley Haigh Smith / Craig Parry finished the rally first in class in a Fiesta S1600.

Focus Flies to Canary Island Win

Fernando Capdevila / David Rivero Suarez won the Canary Islands Rally Championship for the fifth consecutive year in their Ford Focus WRC, in addition to finishing first in class in a Fiesta R2.  Elsewhere, Bernd Casier / Pieter Vyncke triumphed in the Rallye du Condroz-Huy in Belgium in a Ford Focus RS WRC.

Baugent Retains Fiesta SportTRophy Crown

Xavier Baugnet / Johan Jalet overcame engine issues in their Fiesta R2 to clinch their second Fiesta SportTrophy Belgium crown with a dominant fourth victory of the campaign in treacherously muddy conditions in the Rallye du Condroz-Huy, the sixth and final round of the season. Jordan Scaillet / William Mergny took advantage of a late puncture for Arnaud Dedouaire / Gregory Antoine to finish second in both the rally and the championship standings. Jamie Brown / Craig Burgess ended the season placed third.

Victory for Yan in China

Andy Yan won the eighth and final round of the China Touring Car Championship in his Changan Ford Racing Team Focus at Shanghai International Circuit, after starting eighth on the grid. Tengyi Jiang was the team’s highest qualifier in third, missing pole position by less than five hundredths of a second, but although he led the race, a spin dropped him down the field. That left defending CTCC champion Yan to take up the challenge, and he duly delivered. Team-mate Rainey He’s title bid was destroyed by a collision. Changan Ford secured the manufacturers’ crown in the previous meeting, for the fifth time in seven years and fourth straight season.

V8s Impress Down Under

Will Davison tallied a trio of runner-up finishes in the Australian V8 Supercars Championship as the series headed overseas to Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, in support of the F1 World Championship. In the 14th outing of the 16-round calendar, Davison put his Trading Post FPR Ford Falcon FG on pole position in qualifying and led a Ford 2-3-4-5-6 in the opening race, as SP Tools Racing rival Shane van Gisbergen joined him on the rostrum. It was a similar result in race two as Ford annexed positions two, three and four, whilst Lucky 7 Racing’s Tim Slade narrowly pipped van Gisbergen to the final podium spot in race three in another 2-3-4-5-6.

Mustang on Course for NASCAR Glory

Defending champion Ricky Stenhouse Jnr. regained the lead of the NASCAR Nationwide Series standings with fourth place in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Challenge at Texas Motor Speedway in his Ford Mustang. With two rounds remaining, Stenhouse and his closest rival are tied at the top of the points table, but the Roush Fenway Racing star has achieved more race wins. In the headlining NASCAR Sprint Cup Series AAA Texas 500 at the same venue, fellow Roush Fenway Racing driver Matt Kenseth battled back from 27th position to take the chequered flag in fourth in his Ford Fusion, and advance three spots to fifth in the end-of-season ‘Chase’.
