Østberg Wins Rally Estonia
Mads Østberg and Jonas Andersson won Rally Estonia in their Ford Fiesta RS WRC, claiming nine stage victories out of 12 to finish more than half-a-minute clear. Treating the event as a test for next month’s Rally Finland, they successfully defended their Rally Estonia crown from 2011 and Østberg reported no ill-effects from the back pain he suffered after an accident at Rally Bohemia in the Czech Republic a week earlier.
Latvala Steers Classic Escort to Victory
Meanwhile, Ford World Rally Team star Jari-Matti Latvala won the Rally Estonia Historic event by almost seven minutes, following a dominant performance behind the wheel of the Ford Escort RS the Finn was sharing with co-driver Asko Sairanen. The duo won all 10 speed tests.
Flodin Fights Back in Romania
Ford Fiesta S2000 driver Patrik Flodin finished runner-up in the Sibiu Rally in Romania, the eighth round of the Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC). It was far from plain sailing for the Swede as he fought back from an early puncture caused by a broken wheel rim, power steering failure and a broken driveshaft that left him in 45th and last place. A string of top two times, including a stage victory, were the key to a stirring recovery, and Flodin’s efforts earned him the prestigious Colin McRae IRC Flat Out Trophy
Villagra Dominates in Argentina
Federico Villagra claimed a significant victory in the sixth round of the Argentine Rally Championship in Goya, Corrientes, to move back to the top of the standings, six points ahead of his nearest rival. Villagra and co-driver Diego Curletto defeated VRS team-mates Nicolás Madero and Manuel Prieto, both in Ford Fiesta Kinetic Design Maxi Rally cars, in a repeat of the event’s 2011 result. The next round will be held in General Roca, Rio Negro Province on 10 - 12 August.

Organisers have confirmed that the tests will take place on the legendary Indianapolis circuit on 10 and 11 October.
