British Formula Ford Battle Hots Up

The Dunlop MSA British Formula Ford Championship heads into its penultimate outing at Silverstone this weekend (8 - 9 September), with Antti Buri, Jake Cook and Eric Lichtenstein in contention for the first EcoBoost-era crown. JTR driver Buri has led the championship season-long and can secure the title at Silverstone. Jamun Racing rival Lichtenstein has momentum on his side following five victories from the last six races, while team-mate Cook has been a model of consistency. Although Buri remains odds-on to take the title, with a 70-point lead after dropped scores and 180 still to play for, the ‘Home of British Motor Racing’ could yet provide a dramatic twist. In the older Duratec class, the title duel is finely-poised between Fabian Welter and Matt Rao.

Focus RS WRCs Win in Italy

Marco Silva and Giovanni Pina piloted their Ford Focus RS WRC to victory in the Ralli Ronde della Val Senagra e Val Cavargna in Italy. Michal Kosciuszko and Maciej Szczepaniak claimed the final podium position and first in class in their Fiesta S2000, just ahead of Nicola Botta and Daniele Turla in fourth in a Fiesta RS WRC.
Meanwhile, Paolo Porro and Paolo Cargnelutti defeated fellow Ford Focus RS WRC pairing Corrado Fontana and Nicola Arena to lift the laurels in the Rally del Friuli e delle Alpi Orientali in Italy.

Quadder Clinches Podium Finish at ‘The Ring’

Karsten Quadder and Stefan Kniesburges converted third position in the VT2 class in qualifying into the runner-up spoils in the six-hour ADAC Ruhr-Pokal-Rennen race at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife. Driving TIC Racing’s all-new GETRAG Ford Focus ST, the pair battled back from an opening lap incident. At the same circuit three weeks later, the pair claimed second in class in qualifying and finished the four-hour ADAC Barbarossapreis in third. Both races constituted rounds of the German VLN series.
