COLOGNE, Germany - The Ford Mondeo Turnier has scored an impressive victory against its main nine rivals.
In a group test conducted by Germany‘s Auto Test, the Ford Mondeo Turnier 1.6 TDCi Start Stop was pitted against the VW Passat Variant, Audi A4 Allroad, Mercedes C-Class T-Model, BMW 3-series Touring, the Opel Insignia Sports Tourer, Volvo V60, Toyota Avensis Station Wagon, Mazda 6 Station Wagon and Seat Exeo ST.
"The Mondeo impresses so much that even rivals that have become accustomed to winning comparison tests, such as the Passat, had to make way for it," said the magazine.
The publication compared the 10 models in the categories of Price, Fuel Economy, Brakes, Residuals, Upkeep, Trunk Volume (minimum), Trunk Volume (maximum), Weight (empty), Carrying Capacity, Range and Interior Width.
In addition to winning the test, the Mondeo was placed first in the categories of Fuel Economy (tied with BMW) and Range. It was second in the categories of Residuals, Trunk Volume (maximum), Weight (empty) and Carrying Capacity and third in Interior Width. For Trunk Volume (maximum) and Price it was fourth. It came in seventh in the Brakes category and eighth in the Upkeep category.
The VW Passat placed second in the group test, followed by the Mazda6, Audi A4, Opel Insignia. Bringing up the rear was the Mercedes C-Class.
