JAKARTA, Indonesia — Just a week after being crowned Car of the Year by AutoBild, the all-new Focus was confirmed as the best in the Medium Sedan segment by MobilMotor.
"We're proud of the immediate recognition that the all-new Focus is receiving from leading, independent organizations. Just two months after its launch in Indonesia, the all-new Focus has already been the recipient of five respected awards,” said Bagus Susanto, managing director, Ford Motor Indonesia.
“These awards are helping confirm the progess and success of our One Ford plan, providing class-leading vehicles that are attracting so many new-to-Ford customers," added Bagus.
Equipped with numerous first-in-market and first-in-segment smart technologies and safety features, the all-new Focus so impressed the judges that they decided to bestow a special award for its innovative Active City Stop.
"By monitoring the road in front for stationary traffic and then braking automatically if a collision is imminent, the Active City Stop helps reduce the risk of low-speed collisions. This innovative feature is very beneficial for customers in taming heavy traffic," praised Anton Pardede, chief editor, MobilMotor.
MobilMotor, one of the leading automotive publications in Indonesia, selected 30 vehicles as finalists, which were divided into ten categories for the 2012 Indonesian Car of the Year (ICOTY) Award.
The vehicles were independently assessed at Sentul City and Sentul Circuit in Bogor, West Java for a week. The assessments included city driving orientation, performance tests, such as acceleration, braking, stability, and other aspects that might influence consumer buying decisions.
"We invited seven leading automotive figures to be the judges of the ICOTY Award. To maintain integrity and independence, we also requested IAPMO R&T, an international certification agency, to supervise the assessment," explained Pardede.
