BEIJING, China – With Martin Cao‘s win in the latest round of the 2010 China Tour Car Championship (CTCC) on Oct.10, the Changan Ford Racing Team is the odds on favourite to take top honours in this year’s championship.
Leading from start to finish, Cao dominated the Beijing Shunyi Olympic Rowing-Canoeing Park street racing circuit. Commenting on his round six win, Cao said, “Street racing tests the stability and reliability of a racing vehicle. In this regard, my Ford Focus, with its great handling and performance gave me a big advantage in this race.”
There was also success for Cao’s teammate Tengyi Jiang who finished fourth. Together, they contributed 15 points to push the team’s top-standing points tally to 87 – this is 27 more than the next challenging team.
The Beijing triumph continues a terrific winning streak for the team and its drivers who have won five of the six races to date. Given this dominance, Changan Ford Racing Team is likely to win the 2010 series outright if they perform strongly in the second-to-last race on October 23 and 24 at the Shanghai International Circuit. An 18-point gap at the end of the Shanghai race will be enough to confirm a 2010 championship triumph for the team.
