Lincoln Makes an Artistic Statement with its “Up” Gallery Inspired by the All-New Lincoln MKZ

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

NEW YORK — Like the High Line, a beautiful public park elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side, Lincoln is bringing an open and inspirational outdoor experience with its new midsize sedan, the 2013 MKZ, which features a large retractable panoramic roof.

Following the debut of the new 2013 MKZ at private events held earlier in New York City and Los Angeles on April 2, a series of photographs of the vehicle will be on display in an exhibit titled “Up” in the Meatpacking District near the High Line inside an Optidome tent. Up was inspired by the panoramic glass roof which, like the High Line, offers a unique perspective of the world above.

The first day of the exhibit, Monday, April 2, will begin at 8 p.m. and close at midnight. The “Up” gallery tent will continue April 3 through April 8 with extended hours from 6 p.m. to midnight.

The High Line is an historic freight elevated rail line transformed into a public park on the West Side of Manhattan. The park is maintained and operated by Friends of the High Line, a non-profit organization that raises private funding to support more than 90 percent of the annual operating budget for the High Line. In addition to overseeing the maintenance and operations for the High Line, Friends of the High Line presents High Line Art, a program that produces temporary, site-specific artworks that respond to the park’s unique design and landscape, as well as the surrounding architecture.

Lincoln has created a fund-raising campaign to support the Friends of the High Line. The brand will match donations from anyone who visits the gallery and goes to highline.org/match to make a donation from April 1-15 for up to $50K.

Facts about the full-sensory “Up” gallery experience
• A customized video will be projected above attendees to create the experience of driving in the Lincoln MKZ
• Performance art will be included in the gallery display as guests learn more about the new MKZ
• A live DJ will spin tunes in the background
• Plasma screens will display video showcasing the lead design team as they highlight product features
• MKZ photo gallery display will give attendees a “first look” at the vehicles interior and exterior

“Joining forces with the High Line provides a perfect opportunity to showcase the all-new Lincoln MKZ,” said Connie Fontaine, Manager, U.S. Lincoln Marketing Communications. “New Yorkers will have the opportunity to experience the vehicle in an artistic way that speaks to the MKZ’s creative features like the glass retractable panoramic roof.”
