DEARBORN - Lincoln January sales of 5,973 vehicles are up 43 percent from a year ago, and is Lincoln’s best performance for the month in four years supported by the sales of Lincoln MKZ and Lincoln MKX.
“We fully realize we have a long way to go as this luxury brand continues to reinvent itself, but we are certainly encouraged by the continued momentum for Lincoln in January,” said John Felice, vice president, U.S. Marketing, Sales and Service.
Lincoln MKZ reported a strong performance coming off the holiday sales month of December with sales of 2,122 vehicles. MKZ Hybrid had its best January ever with 726 vehicles sold.
“Historically, January is the weakest sales month of the year for the industry and particularly for luxury,” said U.S. Sales Analyst Erich Merkle. “Our MKZ Hybrid sales are very close to what we saw in December – with 754 vehicles sold – December tends to be one of the strongest in sales months in the industry with holiday sales.”
MKX also saw success in January with 2,479 vehicles sold, an increase of 36 percent from a year ago.
As we move through the year, there is still a lot of excitement to come for the Lincoln brand with the launch of two products – the new Lincoln Navigator and all-new Lincoln MKC – as well as the launch of the Lincoln brand in China.
“There’s going to be some exciting things happening for Lincoln this year,” said Merkle. “There is a lot to look forward too, but we have to remember it is a journey as we go through the process of launching new vehicles and entering the strong growing marketplace in China.”
