SÃO PAULO - The Ka, the New Fiesta and Focus took the top ranking in terms of visibility, within their respective segments, according to a ranking published by Cesvi Brazil – Center of Experiments and Road Safety. Cesvi Brazil's study classifies vehicles according to the visibility for the driver – the Visibility Index – in each category, among the top models in the Brazilian market.
 
Many accidents are related to the lack of visibility, whether it be in the rear of the vehicle or in the vehicle's blind spots. To calculate the vehicle's total visibility, Cesvi Brazil did an arithmetic average of results of three types of visibility: rear, side and front. Vehicles with better visibility had higher scores.

The Ford Ka, with 4 stars, is the leader in visibility among the domestic compact hatches. The Ford Focus, also with 4 stars, is one of the leaders in medium-size hatches. The New Ford Fiesta, with 3.5 stars, occupies the top of the compact sedan category. The full list is available on the Cesvi Brazil website (www.cesvibrasil.com.br).

"Visibility is one of the principal items that should be considered in the design of a vehicle, as well as aesthetics, aerodynamics, functionality and the dynamic and thermal performance, which are directly influenced by the body  design. At Ford, this aspect is treated with special attention, as the Cesvi study proves," says João Marcos Ramos, head of design at Ford.

Cesvi Brazil is the only Brazilian research center dedicated to road and vehicle safety and to the dissemination of technical information to the sector and to society. Founded in 1994, it was the first of its kind in Latin America and is a member of RCAR (Research Council for Automobile Repairs), the international council of research centers in this area.

Ka, New Fiesta e Focus São Destaques no Ranking de Visibilidade do Cesvi Brasil

SÃO PAULO - O Ka, o New Fiesta e o Focus apresentam a classificação mais alta no quesito de visibilidade, dentro dos respectivos segmentos, segundo o ranking divulgado pelo Cesvi Brasil – Centro de Experimentação e Segurança Viária. O estudo do Cesvi Brasil classifica os veículos de acordo com a visibilidade proporcionada ao motorista – o Índice de Visibilidade – em cada categoria, entre os principais modelos no mercado brasileiro.

Item determinante da segurança no trânsito, a falta de visibilidade, seja na parte traseira como nos chamados pontos cegos do carro, está relacionada a muitos acidentes. Para o cálculo da visibilidade total do veículo, foi realizada uma média aritmética dos resultados dos três tipos de visibilidade: traseira, lateral e dianteira. Quanto maior a nota, melhor a visibilidade do veículo.
O Ford Ka, com 4 estrelas, é o líder em visibilidade entre os hatches compactos nacionais. O Ford Focus, também com 4 estrelas, é um dos líderes nos hatches médios.
