CHONGQING, China — Ford’s joint venture Changan Ford Mazda Automobile (CFMA) has celebrated yet another major Ford Focus milestone – reaching the 1,000,000 UNIT sales mark in China on September 28.
This is the latest in a growing list of achievements for the world’s top-selling nameplate in China, which was the top-selling compact car in China in August
With average monthly sales of 15,000 in 2011, the Focus has won Ford and CFMA a significant number of loyal customers since its introduction to China in 2005.
“We are very grateful for the Chinese customers’ trust and loyalty to the car, which has helped the Focus brand achieve sales volume of one million units in only a few years,” said Marin Burela, president, CFMA.
Boasting a stylish exterior, refined capability and fuel economy, the new Focus which was launched in March has brought an extraordinary surge in the already-well-loved nameplate. With the current “classic” model remaining in the market, CFMA sold 25,600 Focus cars in August.
“Changan Ford has been listening carefully to the customers’ needs, and is committed to bringing the latest and best products to them. The New and Classic Focus offer more options for our customers, and better fulfill our promise,” Burela added.
Burela’s remark was echoed by CFMA Executive Vice President Luo Minggang, who attributed Focus’ success in China to world-class manufacturing standards.
“We have every reason to believe that the Focus will keep steaming ahead as one of the top players in the compact car market,” he said. “It will become a legend in China!”
