 JMC President Honored as 2011 Outstanding Entrepreneur in Jiangxi Province

NANCHANG, China — York Chen, president of Jiangling Motors Corporation (JMC), Ford's strategic partner for the production of commercial vehicles in China, has been rewarded for leading the growth and expansion of the company by being awarded the 2011 Outstanding Entrepreneur in Jiangxi Province.
 
The award was conferred by the Confederation of Jiangxi Provincial Enterprises and Jiangxi Provincial Entrepreneurs Association.

Since his appointment as president of JMC by Ford Motor Company in 2005, Chen has lead the company’s focus on quality improvement, independent innovation, distribution expansion, research and development. 
 
Under Chen’s leadership, JMC vehicle whole sales volume reached 194,588 units in 2011, an increase of 9 percent compared with 2010, and its sales revenue was RMB17.46 billion(US $2.79 billion), an increase of 10.7 percent over 2010.
 
As one of the ten industrial bases for Poyang Lake green economy development and a base to manufacture vehicles and components, JMC – the traditionally strong commercial vehicle player – is now aiming to use its partnership with Ford to become a world class automaker.
 
Chen led the JMC team to promote a full series of new products by making full use of the existing product platforms, including Ford’s all-new Transit, light truck N900 and N800, Yusheng SUV, and Yuhu pickup. Importantly, JMC launched a new passenger vehicle, Yusheng SUV, last year which earned a positive reputation in the market, helping JMC become one of the most robust vehicle brands among Ford’s global development strategy.
 
Chen and his management team also devoted themselves to one of Ford’s great investments in China – JMC’s Xiaolan new base site - which cost RMB3 billion (US $477 million) and will increase volume by 300,000 units annually. At the new manufacturing base, both the production process and product quality will meet Ford’s world-class passenger vehicle standards.

Adhering to the core value of the company, Chen helped JMC build a competitive business management model and effective implementation management style.

Born in 1952, Chen holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National Cheng Kung University (Taiwan) and has held numerous manufacturing, marketing and sales senior positions in Ford Lio Ho and Ford China.
