 Heritage Moment: Ford Introduces MyKey Technology

DEARBORN - On Oct. 8, 2008, Ford Motor Company announced its innovative MyKey technology, which is a programmable key feature that allows parents or fleet owners to encourage safer driving behavior. 

The technology allows the ability to limit top speed and radio volume, set speed warnings and encourage safety belt usage as well as initiate a “Do Not Disturb” function that blocks incoming calls and texts.

Additional features also permit for an earlier low fuel warning, traction control systems that cannot be deactivated and provides a speed alert chime at 45, 55 or 65 mph.
