Q. WHAT SHOULD NASCAR BE DOING TO ATTRACT MORE FANS TO ATTEND RACES AND WATCH THE TELEVISION BROADCASTS?
A. Well, just create exciting racing like they are doing. I don’t know what else they could do really. They are doing a lot right now and putting a lot of people in the grandstands. We are nearly sold out for all the races, so that is a good thing. I think the biggest thing is to just keep creating exciting racing for the fans.
Q. I HEAR THAT YOU ARE A GREAT ANIMAL LOVER AND TAKE EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF YOUR DOGS. IS THERE SOME WAY YOU CAN USE YOUR CAREER TO EXPRESS THE IMPORTANCE OF ANIMALS IN OUR LIVES?
A. I certainly try to do that all the time. We promote animal adoption, so if you are looking for a new dog or cat, go adopt it somewhere. Please get your pet spayed or neutered. We are looking to get animals out of shelters, help them find good homes and keep them from being euthanized. We keep trying to get that message out to help animals all over.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR MOST EXCITING AND MEMORABLE WIN?
A. My most exciting win was at Daytona. I won there in July and it was my first career Winston Cup series win. To get my first Cup win at Daytona was pretty special, so I will always remember that one the most.
Q. WHAT IS YOUR IMPRESSION OF THE NEW FR9 ENGINE AND HOW DO YOU THINK FUEL MILEAGE WILL BE AFFECTED?
A. I think it is really impressive. I can’t wait to start running it every week. Fuel mileage will play a factor at any size race track, but even more so at the large tracks because it takes more fuel to make a lap, so there is a bigger impact there. We don’t know anything about fuel mileage yet with the new engine because we really haven’t gotten it out there in competition, but we suspect it will be better.
Q. WHAT PRODUCT HAVE YOU DRIVEN HERE AT THE DEALER INTRO SHOW OR WHAT FORD PRODUCT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO DRIVING?
A. I can’t wait to drive the F-150 with the EcoBoost. I have been waiting for that truck forever. I can’t wait until I can get it. I just got my Super Duty and I love it. I just got my Raptor and I love it. I am waiting for my Taurus SHO to be delivered, but I really want that EcoBoost F-150.
