Green is the New “Ford” Blue

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

TORONTO - Last year Ford of Canada whipped up a fantastic blue party. A perfect pre-Canadian International Auto Show evening chock full of fun, and of course – the stars of the evening - the fabulous Ford vehicles. The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive and a flurry of tweets had the event trending on Twitter.

When January rolled around the inquiries started, would there be another blue party this year? When would invites be sent? Who was on the guest list? What vehicles would be unveiled?

That brings us to the 2013 blue party, where green is the new blue.

Despite the arrival of snowmageddon, on Friday, Feb. 8, the Sound Academy (located on the waterfront in downtown Toronto and with a spectacular view of the city skyline) was hopping as influential members of traditional and social media gathered for the exclusive Ford event.

A small group of Ford of Canada employees, contest winners who submitted photos of themselves dressed in their best Ford blue, also were on hand to take it all in.

And they were not disappointed. From the Ford Mustang photo booth, to the Ford branded games, blue manicures and false eyelashes, plus the rockin’ DJ, there was tonnes of fun to be had. But the highlight of the night had to be the dramatic unveiling of the 2014 Ford Fiesta during a live performance by Mayhem’s Finest Dance Troupe.

“This kind of event is extremely powerful when connecting with people active in the social media space,” said Lauren More, vice president, Communications, Ford of Canada.  “It’s this kind of unique experience that encourages a new level of awareness for Ford.  But even more than that, it helps to inspire people to become advocates of our brand.”

Scattered throughout the venue, and lit by spotlight, were the Ford C-MAX Hybrid and Ford C-MAX Energi, Ford Escape, Ford Focus EV, Ford F-150 with EcoBoost, as well as Ford Fusion Hybrid and Ford Fusion Energi, proving that green is indeed the new blue.

The Ford team was busy throughout the night talking to guests about the vehicles and their features, plus taking photos and videos for attendees to share on various social media channels. #FordBlueTO was busy leading up to the event, all night and long after the event wrapped up. The event once again trended on Twitter.

Everyone looked spectacular wearing their Ford blue, plus left the party talking about Ford blue (or green) and as fans of the blue oval.
