MADRID, Spain - Eighty Ford of Spain and Ford Financial employees took part in a Volunteer Day last week improving facilities at the APASCOVI Foundation, an organisation which provides education for mentally disabled children.
When the children become adults, the charitable Foundation provides the opportunity for them to develop skills at its Gardening Centre in Madrid.
The Ford employees were divided into four working groups and allocated specific tasks, such as improving the Centre’s greenhouses, asphalting a ramp to improve vehicle access, installing a watering system for plants and seeding.
In addition to working on the Centre’s facilities, the Ford employees also were able to interact with children and staff.
The initiative was part of Ford’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme, which encourages employees to spend 16 hours working as a volunteer on community-benefitting projects.
All employees involved with the APASCOVI work day were delighted with what was achieved. So, too, were the Centre’s staff.
