HANOI, Vietnam — The hugely popular Global Ford Ranger Challenge is kicking off around ASEAN, inspiring drivers to challenge the global compact truck and engage consumers throughout the region.
Ahead of the official launch of the all-new Ford Ranger, the Global Ford Ranger Challenge has already begun in Vietnam and Malaysia, and will soon be expanding to Indonesia and the Philippines. In Malaysia, the response to the event has been overwhelming, prompting organisers to extend the deadline for entries to April 15.
In Vietnam, the first round runs from March 26 to April 26, inviting consumers to submit their ideas of pushing the truck to its limit along with supporting photos and upload them to www.ford.com.vn/rangerchallenge, the official Ford Ranger Facebook fan page in Vietnam, or send them directly to email@example.com.
Ford Vietnam will select 10 participants with the most creative entries for the interview round to find three finalists who will compete for an all-new Ranger as a biggest prize of the contest. The three finalists from the first round will be announced on the Ford Ranger Facebook fan page or www.ford.com.vn.
The second round of the contest, which runs from May 8 to June 8, gives the three finalists a chance to put the claim of 'Ford Built Tough" to the test by taking the all-new Ranger though tough and real-life challenges.
Ford Vietnam will supply an all-new Ford Ranger and a professional film crew from Broadcasting College for the three finalists to carry out their challenges.
The videos will be uploaded to the Ford Ranger Facebook fan page for viewing and voting from June 11 to July 11. The contestant receiving the most votes from the public will drive home a brand new Ford Ranger Base 4x4 MT, while the other two finalists will each be given an iPad2. Additionally, online voters will be entered into a lucky draw for an iPad 2.
“The Ford Ranger Challenge is a fascinating campaign that will help raise awareness and build further excitement of the all-new Ranger ahead of its official launch," said Truong Kim Phong, Ford Vietnam’s marketing director.
Ford Motor Indonesia will launch the Global Ford Ranger Challenge on April 18. For the event, Ford has partnered with the internationally-accredited SAE Institute, a leading film school in Indonesia known for their pioneering creative media education, whose top students will work with Ford and the finalists to produce a professional video for each of their unique challenges.
The Global Ford Ranger Challenge was successfully launched in Australia last year, and the event has also proven to be a huge hit in Thailand and South Africa recently.
