 Game Changer Finale Enthralls Employees

DATE: Will be calculated from "Release Start Date" field.

CHENNAI, India—The synchronous sound of folk artists from Kerala beating drums and cymbals filled the air as Chennai employees headed for lunch on Tuesday. No ordinary lunchtime serenade, the performance was part of the grand finale of the Game Changer events held in the three months leading up to launch of the all-new EcoSport.

On Tuesday, the entire Ford India manufacturing facility looked colourful as employee engagement activities were wrapped up with an award ceremony. Many employees wore a special T-shirt that had been designed and distributed before the event.
A huge hydrogen balloon sporting a Ford logo and the image of an EcoSport hovered high above the gates, welcoming employees to the finale. Inside, colourful EcoSport flags lined the pathways, and blue and white balloons decorated the employee canteen, the main venue for the day.
As the employees arrived, they were greeted by their colleagues’ pre-recorded song and dance performances playing on huge TV screens.
“We want to make it a memorable event to mark the launch of our game-changing product, the EcoSport, and to engage the employees whose hard work has made it possible,” said V. Pandiyan, vice president, Human Resources of Ford in India.
Employees were soon joined by Joginder Singh, president and managing director; Tom Chacklackal, executive director, manufacturing; vice presidents Senthil Kumar and Balasundaram Radhakrishnan, and other senior executives. During the lunch, groups of enthusiastic employees put on a surprise live dance performance as the audience cheered them on.
After lunch, Singh addressed the prize winners of sports and cultural competitions.
“The amazing response to EcoSport from the customers has shown we’ve a winning product in our hands,” he said. “It is the spirit of win-win that has made us launch this Urban SUV to take us ahead of the competition, and I hope you will carry on this spirit in the days ahead, too.”
Describing the real people and real experiences of the EcoSport Urban Discoveries campaign, Singh said the announcement of the EcoSport’s price starting from Rs 5.59 lakhs had led to a deluge of bookings for the urban SUV.
“Everywhere I went, our dealerships were flooded. Over 140,000 inquiries, 60,000 test drives and over 30,000 bookings in just 17 days. We’ve never seen anything like this before,” he added.
Colourful song and dance presentations by employees and recognitions of veteran employees were interspersed throughout the event.
The day wrapped up with closing remarks from Chackalackal, who highlighted (Safety, Quality, People, Delivery, Maintenance, Cost, Environment) SQPDMCE achievements at the Chennai plant.
