DEARBORN -The election period deadline is fast approaching for many former employees who are vested in their General Retirement Plan (GRP) benefit who have not yet commenced their monthly benefit payment (those who left Ford prior to actually retiring, whether they could or not, at the time of termination).
For participants who have not yet mailed their election materials and supporting documentation to the Pension Lump Sum Information Center, here are some important tips:
1. Use the Benefit Election Checklist provided with your Election Kit to verify you have completed all the steps and provided all documents required to make your election.
2. Be sure to complete the section that indicates your payment election. Simply check the box.
3. Return your completed forms and required documents by July 17, 2013.
If you take no action, you will remain eligible to begin receiving monthly payments on or after your earliest retirement date as defined by the plan.
For more information on the lump sum offer, visit www.myfordbenefits.com and click on GRP Lump Sum Information on the homepage.
Readers of Blue Oval Connect who know former employees who may have a vested GRP benefit are asked to forward this information.
